Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the Israeli government has commissioned graphic artists to design posters for Yom Ha'atzmaut (Independence Day).
In this poster, the pillar in the center with a blue and white ribbon tied around it symbolizes the combination of ancient and modern Israel, old and new. Perhaps the choice of a Roman pillar reflects the influences and connections between Jewish culture and other cultures that impacted humanity as a whole.

The grape vine expresses the renewal of Jewish life in Israel, as well as peace and prosperity, as the verse in Micah 4:4 reads: "They shall sit every man under his vine and under his fig tree; and none shall make them afraid".
