A group discussion was held around the flag of Israel. We chose to represent it on a dark gray background in order to highlight it. Inside this flag, different elements refer to Israel in a symbolic way and in connection with its current affairs. We believe the poster answers the question “how does Israel shape my story?” because we were inspired by what Israel represents for us and the values that we wish to convey such as peace, hope and attachment to the land of Israel. We also wrote inside the Star of David the letters of the word ישראל and “Am Israel Hai” in Roman letters, because this phrase represents for us the strength and eternity of Israel, despite the trials experienced in over the centuries and still today. We chose to inscribe this sentence with the colors "blue-white-red" which symbolize France, in order to show our attachment to Israel while living in another country. The main idea through the symbol of the flag is to represent the hope of peace and a better tomorrow, in the dark and sad times we are going through. The main part (between the two blue bands) is read from left to right. It represents a period of war which tends towards peace, itself symbolized by the dove. We also find symbols of the Jewish people: the Tablets of the Law, the Kotel, the Tefillin and the Tallit, the 7 fruits of Israel, because Israel is the country of all the Jewish people; finally we find 2 typical landscapes of Israel, which represent 2 different aspects of the country. We were inspired by all the representations of the primary sources and more particularly by “Crossword puzzle, Yom Ha'atzmaut, 1949” for the graphic aspect of our poster and the image drawn by Emily Foux because it represents both the dove as a symbol of peace and the written message “Am Yisrael Chai”.
