The poster I created is in honor of the fallen soldiers of Israel and victims of terrorism. So much loss and sorrow has happened that I decided to create a poster about it. The background of this poster, is a collage of the pain Israel has been grappling with since October 7th. There is a girl with a cape in the front holding a hand to her heart and reaching out towards the horizon. There is also a Magen David star above the girl’s head. The girl is an Israel inspired superhero. Her power is connecting all the Jews throughout Israel and the world. She tries to help people stay positive and not lose hope. She is dressed in blue and white to represent Israel’s colors. Her smiling face means that she is doing a pretty good job. Israel is strong and will prevail. We just commemorated Yom HaShoah.Six million Jews died because they had no country to go to. Israel is a safe place for all Jews. All Jews can come to Israel to fine a home. The past year and a half have been very difficult for Israel, so much pain and loss. My poster represents the hope for a better tomorrow, peace in Israel, shalom al Yisrael. My art was inspired by two primary sources. The collage background of my art is inspired by the El Al Israel Airlines advertisement, which is part of the Joseph and Margit Hoffman Judaica postcard collection at Hebrew University. It is a collage of actual pictures from Israel at that time. The superhero was inspired by the superhero designed by Yael Rendelstein’s poster that was created through the “Words Can Make A Difference”.
