For the Yom Ha'atzmaut poster competition, we have displayed an Israeli soldier in an active warzone. The Israeli soldier in the foreground is opening his IDF uniform to reveal a superhero suit, symbolizing the IDF soldiers’ heroism. Next to him, we put an Israeli flag, symbolizing Israel’s resilience through difficult times. In addition, fighter jets fly above and fires burn, emitting smoke, showing the struggles Israel has faced throughout its existence. The number 77 and the Hebrew words “עם ישראל חי” (“The nation of Israel lives”) marks 77 years since Israel’s founding and remind us that the country and its people are still strong today. To us, this poster shows our deep connection to Israel. It’s not only a country, it’s part of who we are as Jewish people. The message reminds us of the courage, hope, and unity that Israel represents. We feel proud to be part of something that has overcome so much and continues to stand strong today. Two primary sources that inspired us were the Yom Ha'atzmaut Poster by Hadi Or Israeliana Collection and a Drawing by Yael Rendelstein. The first poster shares the same theme as it shows an Israeli flag still standing with the Nation of Israel surrounding. The second poster inspired the superhero aspect of our poster and also represents Israeli resilience and pride.
