My poster that i draw and painted, shows how Israel preserves the Jewish community despite the challenges, allowing us to continue our traditions and demonstrate resilience. At the center, there is a woman performing the Brachot Nerot (candle blessings), with the most important place in our community ”the Kotel” behind her. It is filled with vibrant colors that represent the happiness, passion, and warmth of our people.
The Israeli flag waves proudly in the air, illuminated by the flames of 77 years of the state, symbolizing the entire Jewish history. These candles are lit by IDF soldier, who have become powerful symbols in recent years, especially since October 7th. They risk their lives to protect Israeli civilians and uphold the state, enabling us to shine as always.
What role does Israel play in the Jewish world?
Israel is where the Jewish community feels a sense of completeness, as shown by the brilliant colors in my poster. It is the only place in the world where we are truly protected and fulfilled, symbolized by the soldiers lighting the candles so that the woman can welcome Shabbat in peace. The resilience of the Jewish community. We continue to uphold our traditions, surrounded by love, color, and joy. Nothing can stop us or separate us from our land and our people. Just as we have overcome challenges in the past, we will move forward especially now, in the face of the war since October 2023 ”together, as one, the Jewish people.
I was inspired by the Memorial Day Poster, 2008. I used it to remember the people who was brutally taken from their homes in October 7th, and using also the kotel which is the most holy place for us, being lighted with the candles. But the difference from this poster and mine, is that mine is based on the happiness of iom haatzmaut beyond the pain and this one is based on the pain of iom hazikaron.
I was also inspired 32nd Yom Ha'atzmaut Poster, 1980, and I also used this primary source for painting with the colors that show the love and happiness from jewish community in our home-land Israel.
