The broken chains in my poster signify liberation from oppression and the struggle for freedom. The Star of David in the center, with the Hebrew phrase "Ein od milvado" ("There is none besides Him"), highlights the spiritual and national identity of the Jewish people. The map of Israel and the date 14.05.1948 mark the historic declaration of independence. The joined hands at the bottom symbolize unity, support, and the collective effort in building the nation. My poster responds to the question “What role does Israel play in the Jewish world?” by showing Israel as the historical and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people. The broken chains represent the end of exile and oppression, while the Star of David and the phrase “Ein od milvado” reflect the deep connection between faith and national identity. The map of Israel and the date 14.05.1948 symbolize the rebirth of the Jewish state after centuries of persecution. The joined hands represent unity and support, showing how Israel brings Jews together from around the world in a shared story. One primary source that inspired me was the photograph of David Ben-Gurion declaring the independence of Israel in 1948. This historic moment captured the courage, determination, and unity of the Jewish people, which I tried to reflect through the symbols of freedom and national pride in my poster. It reminded me how a single event can define the identity and future of an entire nation.
