To me, Israel represents our Jewish perseverance and shows that even after all the centuries, anti-Semitism, the Holocaust, and October 7th, we are still here. We belong in this world and have a home. To show this, my poster has an outline of Israel and sunflowers in the middle, as sunflowers represent resilience and perseverance. To show the Jewish people’s and Israel’s resilience and perseverance through the years. The quotes in the background are from holocaust survivors and are to represent the Holocaust and how, even after such a tragedy and nearly dying out, we are still here. It is also important to remember because, as one of the quotes on the poster says, ‘to forget them is to kill them a second time.’ The lotus symbolizes our strength and perseverance as the Jewish people. Lastly, the Star of David, which is on Israel’s flag, is a symbol of Israel. Overall, to me, Israel shows and represents that we are still here and belong here too. Even with all the antisemitism and hate towards us as Jews. Overall, to me, Israel shows and represents that we are still here and belong here too.
