The colors we chose are primarily blue, white, and yellow. We included blue and white for the colors of Israel. Jerusalem is also sometimes called the city of gold, so we knew we wanted to incorporate yellow/gold as the sun. The sun is shining on the Torah, which has the words to the Shema on it. We did that because the Torah is very important to Israel. We used form and shape to design the flag, the Torah, and the Sun. We like the mixture of straight lines one one side and curved angles on the other side and both to make the Torah in the center. Israel shapes our Jewish story because of what we learn at our religious school. We learn about how Israel impacts Judaism, which is why we wrote the Shema in our poster. The Shema says that Israel is a people, not just a place, which means we are a part of Israel. It helps us feel connected to our heritage. We are conveying that the Torah is amazing because it helps Jewish people live a Jewish life and connects God to "Am Yisrael." The Shema is an important part of the Torah because it says that God is one. We are also conveying that Israel is more than just a place, it is also a people and we can all feel connected to it even if we have not been there. We were inspired by the Art Project by Renascença School Students and also the 2023 winner Silvana Michaan Buitrago, Dana Harel Mildenberg, and Manuela Stand Robledo. We like how they made art with the Israeli flag and the things people have in common about Israel. We thought that we could continue this theme with a focus on the Torah, which also is a common similarity people feel close to.
