My poster consists of four doves, one Israeli flag, the “bring them home” symbol, and a border made out of grapevines. The dove is the symbol of peace and means that the war should stop. The Israeli flag means that I stand wIth Israel no matter what. The border made of grapevines represents the fertilIty of Israel. The final symbol is the “bring them home” symbol which represents that the hostages should be in their homes. Israel shaped my Jewish life in ways that are too many to be counted. For one, I was born in Israel and lived there until I was seven, when we moved to America. I was very impacted by my birth in Israel. One of these impacts is when I moved to America and started at Ezra, a Jewish school. My poster is conveying the message “Bring them home.” I chose this message because it is important for all the hostages to get them back to their families. I think to actually win the war every Jew who was taken from Israel has to return back to their families and friends. In history class we learned about needs and wants, but I don’t want the hostages to return, I need it to happen. My primary sources are Yom-Haatzmaut Crossword Puzzle, 1949 and The Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty Poster 1994. The Crossword puzzle helped me with putting a big flag in the middle, while the peace treaty helped me with the doves. They both inspired me and influenced my work by making me think about peace in Israel.
