Inside the planet Earth depicted in this drawing stands the state of Israel. The country’s largely exaggerated size represents its overarching value in many individuals' lives, spanning from America to across the globe. In my eyes, Israel symbolizes the resilience of the Jewish nation that has continued to stand strong despite the controversial opinions surrounding its right to exist. In spite of the numerous obstacles and threats they’ve faced over time, the Jews have always upheld their faith in God and maintained an unbreakable connection to their homeland, regardless of whose hands control fell into. Even in modern times, Jewish communities worldwide continue to uphold these age-old values through ritual practices like prayer and the observance of traditional holidays (symbolic of the Kotel in the visuals’ background). Considering how finding time to reflect on the past may be difficult, these practices serve as a reminder of the struggles ancient Jews endured in hopes of securing a more promising future for generations to come. I used the different Yom Ha'atzmaut posters as inspiration.
