In our 10th-grade Judaics class, we were challenged to design a poster in honor of Yom Ha’atzmaut, representing its 77th year of independence. Our drawing displays a Jewish boy and a Muslim girl interlocking arms, staring at an Israeli flag. This shows hope for the future and unity between different ethnicities. The boy wearing a kippah, along with the young lady's hijab, gives a visualization of how it is possible to get along regardless of your religious beliefs. Israel is a crucial aspect of Jewish Identity as it is rooted in Jewish values and traditions. To us, this country defines us as Jews by reminding us of our hardships in the past and displaying how it is possible to overcome them. Throughout our project, we want others to view Israel in a light where anything is possible. We must never give up our dream for peace and finding common ground with our neighbors. I used Yom Ha'atzmaut posters as inspiration.
