In my poster, I used the map of Israel as the main shape to show that the whole country is the center of the idea. Inside the map, I created a mosaic of different images like people from different cultures, an olive tree, a book, the sea, the desert, and a dove to represent Israel’s diversity, history, nature, and hope for peace. My poster responds to the question “What values does Israel represent today?”. The different images inside the map show values like diversity, unity, history, learning, and hope. By placing many symbols and people together in one shape, I wanted to show how Israel brings different communities and stories into one shared home. The olive tree and the dove represent peace and connection to the land, while the book represents knowledge and tradition. Together, these elements show that Israel today represents unity, culture, memory, and hope for the future. The message of my poster is that Israel is a shared home made up of many different people, stories, and cultures. Even with these differences, everyone is connected through history, values, and hope for the future. Primary sources from the National Library of Israel such as historical posters, old photographs, and postcards inspired my design. Seeing how Israel was represented in different time periods helped me think about combining past and present in one image. These sources encouraged me to use symbols, colors, and visual storytelling to express history, culture, and hope in my poster.
