A Year to October 7 | Remembering in Real Time

As the first anniversary of Oct. 7th approaches we still find ourselves amidst a very unsettling reality in Israel and in Jewish communities worldwide. How can we tackle this devastating and challenging reality? How should we be commemorating events when they are still unfolding? During this session, educators explored ways to anchor this difficult time using primary sources that touch upon different aspects of memory and illustrate how Jewish culture has dealt with crises in the past, and learned about activities that offer a framework for what we and our learners are experiencing.
