Picturing Your Israel

Explore Israel’s history and culture through primary sources, creating a visual story, and reflecting on your personal connection to Israel. This activity was created in partnership with The iCenter.

  • Students select and cut out 3-4 primary sources from the Picturing Your Israel Primary Source Sheet. Before choosing their primary sources, they should think about (1) the historical significance of the primary sources, (2)the connection to Israel’s culture, challenges, or achievements, and (3) how it relates to their connection to and feelings about Israel.
  • Students arrange and glue their primary sources on a sheet of paper in a linear sequence that tells a meaningful story about Israel or what Israel means to them, and write a 1-2 sentence caption underneath each primary source describing what it represents.
  • Students give their sequence a title that reflects the story they are telling.
  • Students present their stories (to the class or a partner).
