For my poster, I drew a giant "75" is blue bubble letters and then wrote "yom haatzmaut" in Hebrew and in blue outlined bubble letters. In the center of my poster is a pita stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes and falafel, one of my favorite traditional Israeli foods. Today, Israel is a safe space for many Jews and non-Jews. My poster represents the fun and joy Israelis and non Israelis feel when visiting Israel or living in Israel. Falafel is a symbol of Israeli culture, and many people make sure to eat it while visiting. Through my poster, I wanted to convey the idea that Israel is a place of great joy, especially on Yom Haatzmaut, because there is celebration and joy and happiness for all, for even the poor deserve happiness. My art teacher showed me several different past Yom Haatzmat poster primary sources from the NLI for this project, and the one that inspired me the most was the 17th official poster. This inspired me because it had a lot of color and showed culture, which is what i was going for overall.
